Swivel cool cuff connector for 2" vacuum hose.
Used in the carpet cleaning industry for fast hose connections.
Cool Cuffs™ are the black cuffs, the patented two-part locking System of connectors that replace all your existing vinyl cuffs. You no longer need a barb in between two vinyl cuffs.
- Each hose gets one set of Cool Cuffs (one male and one female).
Be sure to get enough sets for all of your vacuum hoses because they don’t work with vinyl cuffs.
- Follow the Fireman’s Rule: MALES POINT TOWARDS THE FIRE (Job).
This Rule applies all the way down the line, even to the Hydro Filter™.
Ask your supplier about the CoolFilter™ for increased air flow.
- The 2” Starter cuff goes onto your intake port. If you have a barbed intake port, then use a heat gun to soften the back end of the Starter cuff so it slides on easily.
Or you can grind the barbs down on your intake then tap on the Starter with a rubber mallet.
Clamp the Starter in place. At the beginning of every job, you will strip off vac hoses for the job and hook up to this Starter cuff. It’s your first MALE pointing towards the job.
- The Male that Swivels is the last male, normally used as a wand cuff for the 2” wand.
- The Reducer Female will let you step down to your 1 ½” lead hose or (whip hose). Screw it onto the Male Swivel at the end of your last 2” hose. Or you can go directly from 2” hose to 1 ½” hose by installing the Insert into the small end of the Reducer Female part. Now you have a swiveling reducer for all your 1 ½” tools. Note the Insert is reverse threaded. You might purchase an extra Reducer+Insert because they are easy to leave on the job.
TIPS ON CARING FOR YOUR COOL CUFFS:
- If you use the Latched Females, then squirt a few drops of oil onto this brass latch periodically. If you lose a brass latch, you can purchase replacements from your supplier.
- If you use the Swivel Females, squirt the knurled knob portion with WD-40 periodically.
You want the oil to seep down inside the two interlocking parts of the Female Swivel to where the o-ring is. Do not attempt to dissemble the two interlocking parts.
If your Swivel Females come unscrewed too easily, wrap electrical tape around the acme threads portion of the Male. One revolution wrapped clockwise is all it takes to build up the Male so it grabs the inside of the Female better. Some users are into their fourth year with this tip.
If grit gets embedded inside the two interlocking parts of the Swivel Female, you may find it helpful to soak them in warm soapy water and twist the parts back & forth several times to help release the grit. Some guys use air compressors.
WARRANTY:
If any of your Cool Cuffs crack, you can take them back to your supplier or call the manufacturer for free replacements.
If your swivels stop swiveling smoothly while under warranty and you’ve tried all the Tips:
- lubricating the o-ring inside the Female,
- wrapping the Male with electrical tape, and
- soaking the Female to release grit,
